Let's talk paint

Updated: Apr 8

Come out an meet us in April 19th

This room renovation involved converting a children's playroom into a relaxing retreat for the Mom to unwind after a long day. We named this project #peaceofmine

the paint color used is "Nubuck CC-366" by Benjamin Moore Paints.

An updated bed/bathroom, referred to as project #dessertshadows, features walls painted in "Dessert Shadows - 2114-30" by Benjamin Moore Paints, transforming this Builder's Grade bathroom.

And this 2-story foyer shows how painting the railing and walls.

The railing is painted "Black Satin - 2131-10" and the walls are "Brunswick Beige - 1061" by Benjamin Moore Paints.

Picking paint colors can be hard, there so many factors that play a role in what works. Like how the light filters into the room, the other colors you have in existing furniture, light fixtures that you either have or would like to have in the space...on and on and on!

We have 3 1/2 rules when selecting paint colors:

  • Buy a sample from the paint store or online with a company like https://samplize.com/

  • When you have the sample, either paint the wall or hang up the sample for at least 2 days. Try looking at the sample during the morning, noon and night.

  • Try to find samples of rooms that have been painted the colors you think will work, to get a better sense of what it will look like once the paint dries.

  • 1/2 rule - use this rule only when needed - "Don't second guess yourself, it's only paint" (I'm just saying).

I hope that helps and if you still need advise, feel free to join us at the Virginia Paint Center in Manassas, VA on Saturday, April 19th from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm.

I'll be there giving you advise on paint and talking all things Design!

We hope you can come out and support two Small Businesses - See you there!

Thanks,

Mimi Smith
